Huddersfield queer, minority gender & women creative technology meetups.

NEXT MEETUP: Friday the 5th of April, 17.30 - 19.30, Hive Café

April's meetup will include a presentation by Elowyn Fearne, a creative coder doing research on musical interfraces and programming in C++.

Fearne will present her current MA project, a three dimensional 'visual sound broswer'.

What?

FLOAT is a casual monthly meetup in Huddersfield for anyone who identifies as queer, belonging to a minority gender, or a woman, interested in creative technology. This could be creative coding, web design, digital art, game development, electronic/digital music or something else we haven't thought of!

Meetups last roughly two hours. We aim to include some kind of activity in each session, whether it's a quick presentation, skill share, or discussion on a pre-decided topic.

Where?

Hive Café, 46 John William St, Huddersfield HD1 1ER

Note: As Hive are kindly opening out of hours and letting us use the space without charge, we'd encourage buying a drink or piece of cake to support their overheads.

When?

The 5th of every month. 17.30 - 19.30.

Why?

To create a friendly, inclusive space 'of our own', for those traditionally exluded from more tech-y creative scenes and industries. Hopefully, FLOAT can be the seed of new collaborations, projects, skill exchanges and friendships.

Who?

FLOAT is for anyone who identifies as queer, as belonging to a marginalised or minority gender, or as a woman. This can include people who prefer not to self-define or use any particular label. If you feel like this applies to you but you're not sure, then it probably applies to you!

How?
